Hi all, does anyone know what the lifeboat stations would look like with 4 wooden boats at each davit as originally proposed? And how an evacuation would be conducted with multiple boats per davit?
The Lusitania was featured on my local TV station here in Northern Ireland. Incredible as it sounds, one of her lifeboat davits has been hiding in plain sight for decades right next to the public toilets in the coastal village of Annalong. With no signs or anything to say what it is. Imagine...
Does anybody know how I could make two functional, scale Welin Quadrant Davits that you could swing in and out by turning the handle or whatever it was called? What materials would i need? I've never done any model making before. Maybe there is one for purchase somewhere online?
I have always...
Was it common for the Olympic Class liners mainly Titanic to take the outboard emergency lifeboats that are swung out on the side and put them inboard while in port?
I just noticed in photos of Titanic in port and being lead by Tug boats and in every last one of them theres no lifeboat swung...

I apologise if this topic has been brought up before, but if someone could clear it up for me it would be appreciated. When Collapsible boat A landed on the boat deck on the starboard side, the davits were cranked back to lower to lifeobat over the side of the ship instead of...
What was the name of the type of lifeboat davits used on the Lusitania? They looked very complex, and i beleive during the sinking, at least one boat broke from the davit chocks, and another was 'hooked' and caught by the davits as the ship settled- Seemed to me the davit design was a cumbersome...
After the Titanic Disaster, Did the Olympic's existing davits get lengthened at the top to accommodate the other boats that were placed inside the boats that were stationed along the whole length of the top deck. Inside the book Titanic and her Sisters they look longer than the existing davits...
Hello Everyone!
I was looking at some Fr. Brown pics of the Titanic and noticed that the aft boats stuck out halfway off the side of the ship, while the forward boats (except for 1 and 2 of course) were fully inboard. This may be common knowledge that has somehow eluded me, but I had never...
