Are you ready for Cameron to go back to Titanic

James Cameron is going back to Titanic. He will team with the Discovery Channel to do a live show from within the great ship.

Based on what I saw in Ghosts of the Abyss, I can't wait to see what he does this summer. July is just 5 months away.

I do know Roy Mengot might go, I suggested it to him that given his knowledge of the wreck, that he goes along.

I hope the new film Cameron makes is over 2 and a half hours long give or take

Expedition: Bismarck was 2 hours long with the same amazing footage of a deep ocean wreck.

Mark, there are few names I would quickly put forward also. People that have really done the hard slog in research.
You mention Roy - he should have been on the expeditions as far back as 10 years ago. Names like Scott Andrews and Bruce Beveridge I would have on any short list for a berth.

Yeah, you're correct Steve. Roy did tell me he will sign up for the next expedition after I told him the news of Cameron's probable return to Titanic even before confirmation came up. After all Cameron did mention another return, but no exact time or date.

John, IMO try and find the right people to ask. Though that's also a challenge in knowing who to ask.

I do wonder if Cameron will use the same gear he used last time? Medusa should be used again, as seen in GotA it helped alot in filming the wreck.

I'd love to see this time the First Class Smoking Room on the stern section lit up and morphed as done on the foward Grand Staircase in GotA. Also as I'm now on the subject of new ideas, another would be showing the actual breakup of the ship, based on Roy Mengot's research of the sinking. Every film has the top down. In reality that isn't true. It'd be more violent to see, but the evidence is there to show what the movie depicted when Titanic split in two wasn't accurate.

Yep. Is he going? He told me that he asked to be signed up for the next expedition, due to the rumors here of Cameron going back for a third dive session to Titanic.

Me I'd feel the same way he is, but I'm just a Titanic buff who just wants to see the wreck

Something like this is a rare treat, so IMO if it were me, I'd go

If Roy goes, I do hope that a lengthy report on the wreck results, as well as a big photo gallery of the wreck itself. Talk about obsessed lol

I honestly would have alot of photos and hours of raw video to take home if I got to dive to the wreck

Experts in their particular field these days don’t have to be on the expedition as such — with radio broadband, information could be passed on to certain researchers live for their opinion. They could upload their findings over night.
In my opinion, there are only a handful of individuals with that extra-ordinary knowledge on the structural design of the ship.

I don't think so. After making his movie...which kept the studio he works for happy...the man has been digging into the real history ever since. Every time Cameron has gotten into the historical research, exploration, and forensics, the Titanic community has been the winner every time.

More power to him as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just not the one to talk to about such matters. You have a good idea...a similar arrangement was set up in a couple of locations for last September's ISE/NOAA expedition. Unfortunately, I was not able to fly to the East Coast to participate live...I was forced to rely on e-mail instead, which meant time lag and no imagery beyond what I saw during the live telecast. I had to wait until after the expedition returned to view the imagery.

No, I don't believe he has either. James Cameron made his feelings known that he's very interested in the ship's history and that he wishes to explore her more. If further areas of the wreck can be explored, then I don't see a problem with that. In fact, a lot of people including myself want to see more footage of the wreck filmed.

As Mike said, the Titanic community has greatly benefitted from Cameron's passion and I don't doubt that it will continue to do so.
