John E Maguire

The San Francisco Chronicle had an article from April 20, 1912, referring to James Edward McGuire, a prominent local person who was returning from South Africa, where he had worked for a number of years. I take it that this is a case of mistaken identity - - because the ET site lists John E. Maguire, a different person.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

I want to know who this guy is? Did he go down on Titanic, or did John Maguire go down and this is it a case of mistaken identity?
