The Thayer Family

Does anyone know why only Jack Thayer accompanied his parents to Europe and subsequently traveled home with them on the Titanic? They had three other children, but I can not locate any information about them other than their birth and death dates.

Allison - remember that Jack's younger siblings were only children. There was likely an issue with school.

Also, the Thayers were guests of some important people in Berlin (the American consul?) - I know it says who they were staying with somewhere on this board; check earlier posts to find out. Perhaps showing up with a pack of children wouldn't have been deemed appropriate.
