Norman Leslie Bogie

Victim #274 was initially unidentified but his age was estimated at 25 years. At some later point victim #274 was identified as being Norman Leslie BOGIE / Leslie Norman BOGIE. Norman Leslie BOGIE was born 31st August 1853 making him 58 years old at the time of the sinking. How could the medical examiner have been so wrong (if he was wrong)? Various on-line blurbs put the age anywhere between 25 and 59 - obviously depending on whether the writer started from the body or the man. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I wonder if the extreme exposure to the cold would have altered his appearance dramatically.

Thank you Kyle. I suppose I'm just going to have to accept that tho' I can't help but have doubts about the identification.

Is there any way to find out when, how and by whom identification was made?

By way of explanation, I am an amateur genealogist researching everyone with the BOGIE surname.
