Benjamin James Thomas

Polly James was actually born in Stoke Lyne, Oxfordshire.(1877) she was my Grand Aunt, They lived in Southampton with their daughter Bertha at 122 Avenue Road (not 22).Ben never returned to England, Polly and Bertha joined him in America later that year 1912 and finally settled in Union NJ.

If you wish to visit Benjamin's grave at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, it's close to the sign for section A-8. From the main entrance, turn right, and follow the road past the maintenance area on the right. Look for the A-8 sign that marks the section, and park there or use that as a landmark. From there, walk towards the fence. Look for Thomas/Mills stone on your left, slightly up the hill. Benjamin's grave is beneath it.

Emerson Elkington Parvin, who represented the International Mercantile Marine, the White Star Line's owner, at the American inquiry, is buried in section D-2, row 8. It's on the far side of section D-2 from the cemetery office, not the near side.
