Boxhall's dogs

I think I read somewhere that he had a few dogs. If that's true does anyone know what kind they were and what their names were?

Joseph Boxhall's dogs were cockerspaniels

Cocker Spaniels. I always thought of him as owing a small dog but not cocker spaniels. To me he seemed more like a Scottish terrier or a King Charles spaniel sort of guy but I can see him owning Cocker Spaniels. Do you know if they were English or American Cocker Spaniels and their names? Thank you.
