I came across the following image online, which is a colourization of the Library & Writing Room on the R.M.S. Mauretania. I have a question about it and so thought I would consult the knowledgeable members of this forum.
Of course when she was launched, this room was decorated with grey-stained sycamore and gilt detailing, as seen here:
To the best of my knowledge this second image is what this room looked like for the entirety of her civilian career and that Mauretania never really had any significant changes in interior décor, unlike, say, Olympic with her green-stained grand staircase. Am I in error and the Library & Reading Room was altered at some point in her career, or is the first image just a poor colourization?
