When Eugene Daly says that he, Maggie Daly and Bertha Mulvihill were "held down in steerage", does anybody know where exactly he means? Could he mean that they were held in the aft well deck, where a lot of third class passengers congregated until the way up to the boat deck was opened at 1.30?
I have the same question about Anna Sjoblom, who describes being held back by a closed stairway with a lot of other people until she escapes up an emergency ladder to the boat deck with a Swedish girl.
