Does anyone know what changes were made to the QE2 fairly early on in her life (certainly before the Falklands service). The only one I know of is the addition of several penthouse suites, but if you compare very early photos, there is a very obvious change at the front below the bridge. In this photo

there is an obvious line of windows at the front which have disappeared in this photo

to be replaced by a strange looking (IMHO!) boxy structure. Anyone know what this is and when it was fitted?
