The article on Thomas Joseph McCormack states "He eventually managed to haul himself into a lifeboat although which is not clear and it might be assumed that he left the ship in the conventional way."

I happened upon an article trove (Australian newspaper archive) from the Launceston Examiner, 23 April, 1912 which contains the following:

... He got his hands on
the gunwale of a lifeboat, but members
of the crew struck him on the head and
tore his hands loose. After repeated ef-
forts, he swam to another boat, and had
the same reception. Finally two sisters
(Mary and Kate Murphy) pulled him
aboard, despite the efforts of the crew.

So I just thought I'd leave this here for any interested parties.
