Among the believed members of the crew of whom no news has been received, and concerning whom the worst is feared, is Bernard John Boughton, a steward, aged 24, the second son of Mrs Boughton, of 12, Hardinge Road, Ashford.

He was educated at the British schools under the late Mr Jarvis. After leaving school he worked for Mr Harvey, the grocer, and was then employed by Mr Savage at Hastings.

Later he was engaged by Mr Packham, of Ospringe, Faversham, and for two years was in service as footman at Folkestone.

He afterwards went to see, serving first on the Tigas, and after returning from New Zealand was promoted to the rank of third chief steward. He was on the Olympic when it met with disaster a few months ago. Leaving her he went for a trip round the West Indies, and joined the Titanic before she sailed on Wednesday.

Mrs Belton has received a letter of sympathy from his former employer Mr Packham of Ospringe, Faversham.
