    My name is Kathryn Shead nee Ronan. My great uncle Gerald Augustine Morgan served on the Carpathia and was awarded a meddle for his part in the rescue of the Titanic survivors.Gerald Augustine Morgan was the 6th child of William John and Elizabeth Muriel Morgan.Gerald Augustine Morgan more commonly known as “Gus”, short for Augustine, was born 09/12/1892, at Goodwood, Adelaide, South Australia.Educated at Marits Brothers, Catholic school, Norwood. The Marits Brothers school, changed its name in 1934, to St.Ignatious.Gus, left home soon after the death of his father in 1906.It is believed he emigrated to the U.S.A., with close relatives. It is also rumoured he may have married in the USA.At the age of 19, Gus, found employment as a steward aboard the P&O line "Carpathia".Other ships that Gus, worked on as a first grade steward were;Ormiston.
