Mrs Lucy Maria Reynolds, née Gifford, was born in Brooklyn, New York on 7 December 1856. She was the daughter of Alonzo Gifford and Mary Jane Hakes. 

Later a resident of Albany, Lucy was married in June 1874 to shirt manufacturer Charles Whitford Reynolds. They had five children: William, George, Grace, Alonzo and Noyes and by 1910 the family lived at 405 State Street in Albany.

Widowed in 1922, Lucy Reynolds continued to travel. She died in Rensselaer, New York on 14 May 1935 and was buried in Reynolds Cemetery in Petersburg.
