Hey Guys,
I just joined the forum. Great to see enthusiasts still talking about this great ocean liner!
I got an early Christmas present. This morning I opened up an Official Titanic store replica 3rd class coffee mug. Does anyone have a history or resources that could give me some more...
The Royal Mail Ship Carpathia, along with many others, carried many immigrants in mediocre conditions. However, their struggle has been overlooked for so long. What was third class like on the Carpathia?
When one thinks of women who refused to leave husbands or refused to get into a lifeboat, we often thing of 1st and 2nd class women who had the privilege of time and choice!
ON the flip side we often think of steerage passages emerging towards the end of the lifeboats going - and being...
Hi,
Third Class single women, and women who were coupled or with their family were provided cabins to the aft of the ship.
But there is a 'Woman's' lavatory on F Deck in the Third Class permanent area at the front of the ship!
Does anyone know why this is?
Many thanks :)
Hi All,
Is this a mistake on the profile of the deckplan on the main-site? It states there is a 3rd class open space below the forecastle on C deck.
If I'm not mistaken that's where the crew messhall is and the area where the machinery is for the anchors. There is of course the 3rd class open...
I would like to know how third class passengers in the bow escaped the sinking. I heard that they had to go through Scotland road to the stern and there wait because they were not allowed to go to boat deck. Is it true? I mean, they had no choice of going to boat deck from the bow? I guess they...
Hi does anyone have any information of a measles out break on Titanic in 3rd Class please. I have recently spoken to a survivors relative who says some children were isolated in Their cabins because of this.
I am researching children on Titanic at the moment

In Beesley's book, he recounts seeing a young gentleman who always stood apart from other Third Class passengers. He reckoned this was the ruined son from a good family. Has anyone ever been able to identify who this was?
A google search for Titanic's third class staterooms produces images of what looks like a bunk room with a water fixture at one end. Its height suggests "toilet" but it looks more like a sink. Were they one in the same in 1912? Did these shared bunk rooms actually have open toilets at one end...
Hi!
I am studying the French and Italian people in the Titanic.
I have found in this list: Titanic: Demographics of the Passengers
that there were some in Third Class.
Where can I find more information?
Thanks!
Daniel
Did most of the 3rd class passengers use the wrong staircase? The 3rd class stairway only led to the aft well deck while the 2nd class stairway led to the boat deck. I understand most of them followed each other to the wrong staircase and were packed together on the well deck when the ship...
I know it was single men in the bow and single women in the stern, but I heard somewhere that this rule also applied to families. Is this true and, if so, why? I'd expect a family travelling together would have their cabins close to each other.
I'm trying to understand the layout of cabins D133 & D137.
These are stern cabins on D deck which follow the outside hull where it begins it's great arch over the rudder. The floors of these rooms are curved in the corner (about half of D137 has a sloped floor).
Both cabins have a...
Hello to everyone,
After looking at many records, including the Joseph/Peter (Katrin Yusuf) family from Lebanon and The Fatal Journey of Third Class Men on the Titanic which shows info that at least 9 Third Class women were in the forward section, I was wondering if there are accounts of...
When I was looking on the Cabin Allocations List, I noticed that a Lebanese woman and her children (Peter/Joseph Family) were shown to be having cabin F-63 (Section E) in the bow. I was wondering: I thought women and children were in the bow.
To make sure this wasn't a typo, I looked on the...
Hello everyone, I read somewhere that there is an Hollywood actor who's ancestors came in United States with Titanic. I have in mind Dylan McDermott (and there was someone whose name is actually McDermott) but maybe it is not him because I don't find it anymore in the web. I've read it in IMDB...
Hi, what was exactly job of regular 3rd class stewards? Were their jobs separated? I mean some care about cabins and some worked in dining room as waiters?
