    Yellow Hull Stripe?

New member here- excited to be part of the Titanic community! I know most conventional renderings of the Titanic show the yellow stripe between the black and white portions of the ship. I believe this was a common design for the White Star fleet at the time. It's obviously more difficult to...

    Color Question.

Does anyone here know what was the correct shade of the hull colors that the ship would have actually been painted in? I'm asking because i did a color test using the colors from Bob Read's color guide for the Olympic class: I'm just asking because this is too desaturated and bleached...

For Sale Pieces of the big piece on eBay

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well, I have a question how legit do you all think this seller on eBay is or could be? He claims to have a letter from the person/collector that once had these, And I know that this kind of stuff can be very difficult to tell if real or not, But I am very...

    What is This Hull Piece?

Has anyone determined the location on the hull where this piece originated? Was it Starboard? Port? Is there a name for this piece? Are the bright dots portholes, or are those bright dots other debris that have landed on this hull piece? I tried counting the hull plates. If we say that the shape...

Could Titanic have survived the collision if she had a double hull?

Could Titanic have survived the collision if she had a double-hull? If no other changes were made other then having the extra hull? Or would it be worse as all the water would be trapped on the starboard side with no way to even the ship out? I'm not sure where the trim tanks where located.

How do you use Titanic hull plating CAD plans properly to add the sheer strakes/ individual plates to a model?

I am having trouble with understanding the best way to use plating plans, such as Robert Hahn's or Robert Reads'. I wanted to ask how these plans are supposed to be properly used to add individual plates to a model. To give the most accurate result. From Reads' plans for instance, there are four...

    Stern rivets

I've been a Titanic fanatic since 1986, and so am at once frustrated and intrigued by the following question. I am looking for a rivet pattern around the registration lettering on the counter. I've been looking at photos of Olympic/Hawke damage to form a best guess as to what the pattern might...

Was the Hull near G-Deck damaged?

Was the Hull near G-Deck, (for example, the Mail Room) damaged in the collision? As soon, or immediately after, the Mail Room was reported to be flooding, and as we know, the Mail Clerks began to try to drag the mailbags up to Higher Ground. Being the closest Deck to the top of the waterline...

Hull & Bollard Fragments being sold.

Apologies if there is a previous related thread - I could not find one. Recently, I ordered a collection that included a fragment of one of Titanic's bollards and a hull fragment. The site I ordered it off of is called White Star Lines (White Star Lines | Titanic Gifts, Merchandise...

    Water Pressure Against the Hull

When the Titanic settled low in the water and her port side plates settled down more than 100 feet below the surface, would the water pressure at that depth push against the hull and burst open her plates? When I try to push a water basin down into a bath full of water the water basin will...

    Plating and Riveting Patterns

Hello everyone! First post on here! I’m currently 3D modeling the Titanic and I’m almost at the point where I’m wanting to work on the hull details. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a pattern, or just the blueprints, or something of the plating and riveting on the ship. I’m...

Titanic's hull plating that joins the front

Good day gentlemen, I must admit I need help. I am unsure if this is a good place to post this but here we go; As of this moment I am designing and planning to create a mini 14' ship styled in the H&W ship building, (antique looking ship) and I've been looking at the titanic for reference...

    Burning questions?

Hello, I have two burning questions about the Empress. 1. What colour was the hull? Some pictures show it as green but some show it as red. 2. Did the ship sink stern first or bow first? Some paintings show it sinking stern first.

    White hull stripe?

A few pictures seem to show a white stripe running the length of the hull. One taken circa 1911 clearly shows it. But no drawings or diagrams show it. Titanic Research and Modelling Association also doesn't mention it. It also looks like the stripe on Mauretania and Lusitania.

    Where Did the Hull Break?

Please bear with me on this one, but sometimes we realize we lack information that should fall into the "common knowledge" category, and we have to play catch-up. This is one of those moments for me. Where did the hull break occur, referenced by the public rooms on B Deck? Aft of the Grand...

    The breakup of the hull

If there is already a thread about the mechanism and sequence of the breakup of the hull, I haven't found it yet, so here goes ... For many years I have been interested in just what went on when the Titanic's hull broke in two, and I have read various theories on the matter, although have not...

    DC Connection To Hull

Titanic's electrical system used the hull as a return path (like automobiles that use the steel body for the return path). Theoretically, the polarity should have been hooked up so the hull was a cathode, thus reducing galvanic corrosion - but I've seen to reference to that. Was Titanic...
