Had she been in world war one

What if she had survived the iceberg, but standards were still updated as a precaution? She made it into World War One, and was a troop ship painted in Razzle Dazzle colours? What could have happened to her?

    Passengers in the Great War

I would be interested to know what the passenger survivors did in the Great war. I do know that Daniel Buckley was tragically killed with the American Army in France and Edith Pears, drove ambulances in the war. I would like to know what the other passengers did.

    Star wars vs Titanic

My friend just sent me these, the 21 reasons why Star Wars is better than Titanic. I don't necessarily think it's better, but these are pretty funny: 1. The Titanic is big, but it doesn't have hyperdrive. 2. Yoda could use the Force to lift Titanic out of the water. 3. Leia is a princess...

    World War II Crew Activity

This post has been prompted by a recent very interesting communication from the great grandson of Henry Tingle Wilde - at a time when the world remembers the anniversary of D-Day, it is fascinating to find that H T Wilde's son, Henry Owen Wilde, was a beach marshall at Normandy and went on to be...

    Medic at War

Came across some interesting references to the Medic's role in both the Boer War and WWI carrying Australian troops. She was used to transport some Aussies to South Africa during the voyages that Murdoch and Lightoller were aboard her - MAB might be able to confirm the date (I don't have the...

    Boer War Veterans

Hi, I bought a book about the Boer War on Wednesday and I've hardly been able to put it down. (Ghosts of the Abyss is next on my reading list) Just out of curiosity, as the 'Titanic Adventure Out of Time' computer game portrays its fictional Officer Morrow as a Boer War veteran: did any of...

    Olympic During War Time

I have always wondered about Olympic's interiors during WWI when she was a troop transport. What was done with the furnishings? I suspect large rooms such as the dining saloon and reception areas were made into bunks for the soldiers. Anyone have any pictures? Thanks

    After War Broke Out

Hey guys, I was wondering about what happened to all the fittings once the Britannic was being turned into a hospital ship. I know she was supposed to be more beautiful and luxurious than her sisters but what happened to all the paneling and fixtures. Did they just keep them on? To make it...

Ships and the Irish War of Independance

Coming in on the tube today I read the following passage in Ulick O'Connor's Michael Collins and the Troubles (In which, remarkably, the Big Fella doesn't actually show up until Chapter 16 of a 29 Chapter book, but anyway...): In June 1919, de Valera set out from Liverpool for the United...

    Civil War Sub Recovery

Has anyone seen the TV coverage of the Civil War sub that was raised?! Really fascinating! They recovered bodies and the sub in it's entirety! Amazing!!!! (they even recovered a memento from a soldier who died 7 months before the sub sank. Probably a war souvenir of one of the seamen, but...

Why did Olympic and Britannic go to war

Hello all This is a follow on from an earlier thread about the political influence of the Titanic. I was thinking about how the British Government had a major part to play in the financing of the Mauretania and the Lusitania, giving Cunard a huge long term loan and a low rate of interest...
