Harold Bride picture

Hi everyone--I've got a question...

Does anyone here have a copy of the book 'Titanic In Picture Postcards' by Robert McDougall and Robin Gardiner? There's a picture in it, first posted on page 54, that is labeled as being Harold Bride, but I don't think it looks much like him. However, I'm not a hundred percent sure. Does anyone here know for certain?

Whoever it is, he's *almost* smiling... so it's a start.

And make that two freaks...I'd give my left kidney (well, okay, almost) to see a picture of Harold smiling.

Jemma - have you seen a picture in which Harold Bride would be smiling? Now that I'm trying to come up with one, I don't really recall any. On the other hand, I have only seen the "usual" pics of him that can be found from many websites and books.

Yes, this is a very interesting question. I don't have this book or have ever seen this picture you're speaking about. But I have a question: Was he really so "unfriendly"? I actually like him. Maybe he looks only on THIS usual pictures so unfriendly.

Actually, I've never heard or read anything about him being unfriendly at all.

I saw his pictures as being solemn...not unfriendly. I look the same way in pictures, and in person.

I've seen a video {No Sound} made at the time of the aftermath ordeal in which Harold Bride was being filmed around the time of the court dates as everyone was entering the building. There were newsmen all around in addition to the many spectators. Harold did indeed have a sly smile along with a bit of a smirk and seemed to frankly enjoy being the center of attention. I checked out the VHS {along with as many as I could find} from the library and there were many here and there that I've managed to come across but I couldn't name the exact one.

Here's an actual picture of Harold Bride in the Titanic's wireless room, taken by Father Brown, who luckily disembarked at Queenstown, don't we know. It only shows the back of his head. I wonder if he would be smiling, though, as it looks like he's working. Just a thought.

Hallo, Carla, and welcome to the forum. When you go into an old thread like this one you may find that some of the people who posted are no longer members. If you click on a poster's name in the left-hand column you'll get to a page which shows the member's profile, with info about that person. If that page reads The profile that you have requested no longer exists, then you'll know that the poster isn't here any more. Unfortunately that's the case for most of the names in this 3-year old thread, including Lucky.

I hope no one minds me dragging back an old thread! (Hey, at least I started it, way back when. )

I realized that I had never scanned in the picture in question--whether or not the picture labeled as Harold Bride on page 54 of "Titanic in Picture Postcards" by Robert McDougall and Robin Gardiner is, actually, of him. And I realized while staring at one of my bookcases tonight that I do own that book. I don't have a scanner anymore, so I had to resort to using my camera. Thus I apologize for the quality, but anyway, here it is:

I'm still torn on the verdict. Any takers?

The image posted above is not Harold Sidney Bride. But this is. The family believes it was taken shortly before the Titanic sailed. He is wearing his Marconi uniform. I hesitated to post it without permission from a closer family member, but realized I had already posted it to Ancestry.com, so "the cat's out of the bag." This photograph belongs to history, in my opinion.
