Daniel Coxon

The thing I found odd about Daniel Coxon's ET bio is that his nationality is listed as "English" but it looks like he had lived and worked in Merrill, Wisconsin, for around 30 years by the time of the Titanic's maiden voyage. I would have thought by then "Popcorn Dan" would have become a naturalised American.

I have not seen any Titanic work in which Coxon is mentioned but have read an online article somewhere that although he was very "working class", he liked to wear flashy clothes in public. I don't know if that's true or not.

An interesting and tragic coincidence is that Coxon made his outbound journey from America to England in December 1911 on board the Inman Liner SS New York; of course, that was the ship that had a near collision with the Titanic just as the latter started out on its fateful maiden voyage on 10th April 1912.

Daniel was a U.S Citizen .I actually have a copy of his Naturalization certificate. Also in the White Star Line interview with Dan’s brother Edwin,He states that his brother Dan was a U.S citizen and kept it in his pocket book at his time of departure from Southampton. He stated that He saw it with his own eyes.I personally have been a U.S citizen for 30 yrs ,but still travel with my British passport.I consider myself still British, but all my 3 daughters are American.
