All very well, but how do I explain 'nipping out for a minute' and coming back a week later?
Add that to the fact that as I am an ancient mariner, each trip would take me longer and longer. Some things just do not work. Despite having the most modern aids to communication.

Well, you could at least try the traditional Captain Oates manoeuvre: "I'm just going outside and may be some time." But we all know what happened to him.
