Here's another idea that might satisfy all the unnecessarily exploitative, greedy Titanic profiteers out there, without necessarily putting us out. What if they didn't build a floating replica, but instead a land based hotel. They would only have 1st Class rooms, of course, and modern retail could be placed in the funnel shafts (that way, they are discreetly hidden as not to impugn on the period feeling). Modern machinery and facilities could be on E Deck where Scotland Road would have been. There could even be a maritime themed shopping mall in the holds. What would have been 2nd and 3rd Class in the stern could be turned into more rooms, Ballrooms (for weddings, conventions, etc.), restaurants, and/or an extensive maritime museum. Twice a year, there would be a big THS or ET convention that would recreate the voyage (as it should have been). For these events, of course, the retail areas, museum, and extra rooms (the ones that didn't exist) would be closed and sectioned off from the rest of the hotel. The entire exterior would be built EXACTLY as it looked on the real thing. The interior would appear like it did, except, of course, for sprinklers and other necessary safety equipment (all of this would be made as discreet as possible). The hotel would have to be somewhere by the sea and NOT in a major city. This is much more feasible (and A LOT less expensive) than building a full scale floating Titanic II. Could it be done? I know that it won't, but could it?

PS-Again, I'm asking only if it could, not if it will be built.
