Titanic's propellers

So I ran across this photo that is labeled Titanic's 22 ton turbine propeller. It was from The Universal Engineer (December 1911) p. 412. It is a four blade prop. Is this just a stock photo that the magazine used or is there something else to it? When this issue was published Olympic was already in the water. The pic is in the middle of the page. Cheers.

Funny you ask this, as I was looking at this photo just earlier in one of my books "The Birth of the Titanic" by Michael McCaughan. It is Olympic's centre propeller, photographed in November 1910. The same photograph can be found on page 103 of said book.

Ok thanks for the info. I suspected that was the case as so many of Olympic's pics got passed off as being Titanic. I'm sure I have seen the pic before but it didn't register until this discussion about the prop. Cheers.

I'm surprised by how much this has interested me. We should pass the hat around and get those thousands of dollars Bill Sauder says would be needed to investigate the wreck

Wouldn't that be something; I'm sure these days someone could rig something up and start scooping in the Sediment.
