La Touraine Guards Her, on Maiden Trip;

Olympic Hastily Equpped With 68 Boats.

Paris, April 21--La France, the newest and largest French transatlantic liner, left Havre today on her maiden voyage to New York. She carries 1,250 passengers. As a special precaution La Touraine, another of the same company's vessels, left shortly after La France, and will act as the new liner's escort on her maiden trip.

Southampton, April 21--The White Star liner Olympic, sister shp of the ill-fated Titanic, will sail for New York on Wednesday carrying the most elaborate life-saving equipment ever placed on an ocean-going vessel.

The Olympic heretofore has carried only as many lifeboats as the insufficient number aboard the Titanic. However, a large force of men is now engaged installing forty new lifeboats and collapsible boats on the vessel and in addition about twelve rafts. This will give her a total equipment of sixty-eight small craft.
