Had Boer War Service

The death took place on Sunday of Mr. John Haggan,79 Thorndyke Street, Belfast, who was one of the Irishmen survivors of the Titanic on that fateful maiden voyage in April 1912. He was 74.

Member of a family with a seafaring tradition going back generations, Mr. Haggan spent many years at sea as a fireman, retiring at the end of the 1914/1918 war.

In his early years he was a soldier serving with the Artillery in the Boer War. He was unmarried.

Mr. Haggan is survived by two brothers and three sisters.
