Thomas Hughes' Daughter is Believed Among Titanic Dead.

Topeka, Kan., April 17--The Rev. Ernest Carter and his wife of London were booked for the Titanic's first sailing on their way to Topeka to spend the Summer with Mrs. Carter's brother, George Hughes. Mrs. Carter is a daughter of Thomas Hughes, author of "Tom Brown's School Days." A cable dispatch from London today announced that they had sailed, and as their names have not appeared in the list of survivors Mrs. Hughes gave up hope of them today.
