Haroutioun Zakarian

Mr Haroutioun (Ortin) Zakarian, 27, from what was in 1912 Turkish occupied Armenia, was a Christian, and after Turkish Muslims renewed an ongoing vendetta against Christians, Zakarian and several of his compatriots, Neshan Krekorian, Arsen Siraganian, Mampré Zakarian and David Vartanian decided to flee the country and emigrate to Canada.

Zakarian boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as a third clas passenger (ticket number 2670, £7 4s 6d).

He lost his life in the sinking. His body, if recovered, was never identified

  1. He is sometimes listed as "Artun Zakarian" or "Artin Zakarian".
