The Break up

Hi Roy-

Am looking forward to your lecture at the convention. This all sounds very interesting. I've missed your 'You can't get there from here' articles. Is anyone from SNAME coming to the lecture?

Very best,
Mike

No one from SNAME is going to the TIS convention that I know of. Their primary interest in modern ships. PH Nargeolet will be talking on the recent Carpathia expedition.

On Titanic plans, I go by the Bruce Beveridge plans. He tuned them from the same construction plans I have.

Hi Roy. Unfortunately, things like that happen in public forums. And you are right about a number of top researchers not wanting to contribute to these forums because of stuff like that.

Matt. I think I may have posted this elsewhere on this site in another thread which shows the detail you wanted. The colorization of some of the lines and numbering is mine.

Thanks Sam, This is the plans I am doing myself well I cant say created myself cause their using the Olympic profile plan which I am converting over to Titanic. But I am showing the slop of the deck plating starting further aft than between frame 25 and 26. Mine is showing the slope up starting at frame 28. Here is mine below. I guess I will have to make changes on where the slope starts at which isnt a major problem for me I have changed many deck layouts already, just want to have accurate plans.

Another point to consider is that the mounts for the single ended boilers were on that slope. Ramping up from frame 25 and leveling just before frame 30 simplifies construction of the boiler mounts and the WTB for the engine room.

It's great to hear from someone who has actually been there I would love to have a copy of your and Richard's paper (If You can't get my mailing address from the site I think Jason has it). I thought that the plans from "Titanic & Tragedy" were fairly accurate since they showed the stateroom changes on: "A", "B",and "C"? decks. I also thought that the two sections of hull stretched all the way across the beam of the ship. I don't and won't disrespect anybody's work but I still wonder if Titanic could have achieved the extreme angle prior to sinking. I ask because several passengers in the boats reported this(I would question the accuracy of survivors in the water simply because they too close and were occupied in staying alive. (most of them ended on top of collapsible "B"))and some of the many photos taken through the periscopes of submarines of ships sinking during WWII. Note that all of these ships had taken torpedo damage at or near where their hulls broke up.

Roy since I got this going please refer to my note posted April 22 "Open mouth insert foot" I'm sorry for any incorect statements ectbut hey it got things going. and you'r here as well. Hope one day so se a complete map of the debries field even tho I know it means way too many pictures of mud

Huh? Do you mean your e-mail address, Dale? I don't have it. In any event, if you want a copy of Roy's paper, just click on his name and send him a PM through his profile. He can e-mail you a copy of it, in Microsoft Word.

Roy, I have to admit that does make more sense to simplify the construction by starting the ramp earlier and leveling off before the water tight bulkhead. I will go ahead and make those changes now while I am still thinking about it.

My one (part time) working brain cell has out run my body again. I will try this in english (I hope). I meant my home address but thanks for the tip on the paper I will go there.
