I realise that the copyright may not be involved in the sale, which is why I mentioned it I am no copyright expert. When I see the whole copy of the letter I will do what I can. I wonder if anyone else managed to get get details from the same items that were being sold? there was a whole bunch of things!

Regarding the letter, if you wish to publish a transcript, I think what you need to do is obtain the permission of the current owner to do so.
