What if

David, you're giving away your age. But since I know I'm about as old as you are I can say that I do remember the Dumont Network. In New York area it was channel 5. As for watching a radio, in my grandma's apartment down on the 1st floor the only thing to watch and listen to was the radio which was a real piece of wood furniture. (Only AM broadcast channels of course.) Her radio in her living room was as big as the first 8 inch B&W RCA TV we had up in our apartment, and quite a few years older. Inside these devices were a bunch of vacuum tubes that kept the top of the furniture box quite warm to the touch. I also liked to look behind to box through those little holes and see the glow of those tubes. Fascinating stuff to a 4 year old kid. Ah, the good old days when we were little kids.

By the way, my grandma had a wireless remote to change the station on her radio. She would simply call out "Sammy, get up and change the station."

Sam, Dave........
You as old as your nose, and a little older then your teeth.
I was also in double digits when Daniel Boone and Star Trek first screened in B/W.

>>Sam--I would love to give away my age...or at least about 20 years of it! <<

I'd love to have the energy of a two year old, the libido of an 18 year old, the wisdom of a sage, and new knees to replace the set I have now. (20 years on steel decks, concrete piers, and 7 1/2 more on concrete where I work have done them no favours.)

Since I can't have the first two, and replacement of the knees ain't in the cards right now, I'll just have to aim for the Wisdom Of A Sage part.

I may never get there, but it's worth trying for.
