Tributes to Walter Lord

Here's another piece of Walter Lord trivia--The original Title of A Night To Remember was A Cold Night in April. While walking to his apartment on East 37th street, Walter changed the name purely on impulse. Walter reminded me of the movie Field of Dreams--"If you build it he will come." Hence the name change. The rest, as they say, is history.

Walter's 76th birthday cake. The party was in Baltimore which pleased him no end- as did the special cake. The photos include his birthday gift globe with a jewel on every location his books encompassed (John P. Eaton on the right).The last photo is Walter signing an autograph for an admirer, TIS President Brian Meister standing in back, and Sharon Rutman in blue , far left, who gave a magnificent tribute to Walter and his life work that evening in October.
